Hankyong National University's predecessor, Anseong Public Agricultural School, was founded in 1939 by Dr. Park Pil Byung with a donation of 50,000 won and was expanded to Anseong Agricultural College in 1979.
In 1993, it was reorganized as Anseong Industrial University, and in 2012, Hankyong National University was established as a comprehensive university.
Korea Rehabilitation and Welfare College, the predecessor of Korean Welfare University, was established in 2002 to provide vocational education opportunities for people with disabilities at the higher education level.
In 2012, it changed its name to Korea Welfare University, reorganized 6 majors from 2-year to 3-year programs, and introduced and expanded 4-year degree programs to strengthen higher education for people with disabilities.
Hankyong National University was approved for integration in April 2022, with Hankyung University and Korea Welfare University as its predecessors, and was established in 2023.
