- Introduction
-
The Restorative Sciences major cultivates experts on medical rehabilitation through training on the design and R&D of artificial arms/legs and medical/mobility devices, assistive technology, and various areas of industrial health.
Equipped with a basic understanding of anatomy (human anatomy, human motion, and rehabilitative medicine), students take courses on assistive technology and how to use artificial limbs and spinal supports. Focus is given to the fundamentals (e.g. industrial hygiene, industrial toxins) to cultivate industrial health experts who have practical experience in industrial ventilation and workplace environment assessment. After completing coursework in the major, students can choose to obtain certification as a medical/mobility device technician, assistive technology specialist, or industrial hygiene specialist.
