- Introduction
-
This major offers courses on farmland creation, local water resources, rural planning, biological production facility engineering, local resource-based energy, and big data analysis of local resources, with a grounding in applied science and engineering, aiming to improve quality of life in rural areas. It works to cultivate rural engineering researchers who can respond proactively to changes in rural environments worldwide through their ability to solve problems related to agricultural production environments and local development/equipment, make rural areas more eco-friendly, and design blueprints for cutting-edge or precision agriculture. To develop students’ major-related skills, alumni and working-level experts at relevant institutions are invited to give lectures and tips for job-seekers. Field trips are taken to water processing facilities, rural community corporations, and land that is part of the Saemangeum Development Project. Learning/tutoring programs participated in by varying ages are also conducted to encourage information exchange among students and improve academic skills. Students also fine-tune their knowledge and skills outside of the classroom through corporate internships, on-site learning, and participation in international development cooperation projects and overseas volunteer trips (e.g. KOICA). Before graduating, students can become certified as a civil engineer, water quality engineer, air quality engineer, waste processing engineer, construction material tester, measurement/topographical spatial data specialist, industrial safety engineer, construction safety engineer, social surveyor/analyst, data processing engineer, or big data processor. After graduating, students are hired by public institutions or research centers as civil engineering technicians, environmetal engineering technicians or researchers, or measurement/topographical spatial data researchers.
